Atticus Andrew Wright
4/18, 7:56AM, Boy, 7.5lbs, 21.25"
After 60 hours at the hospital, and over 19 hours in active labor, we are thoroughly exhausted. Oh, and we also happened to come away with a new little boy name Atticus Andrew Wright. He was very particular during labor, unhappy in many positions, then decided to head to the exit face up. In the end he was vaginally delivered with assistance at 7:56am on April 18th.
First, a never-ending Thank You to the teams at AdventHealth in Castle Rock, Colorado.

As you may know, we were hoping to have a home birth. We have a lovely team of midwives and a doula who were ready to take care of everything. We've gotten our library all ready for the big event, and waited... and waited. 2 weeks late, and almost being forced to induce, our midwifes went back through all our files to realize that the 7-week ultrasound with the blurriest data showed that our due date was actually a week later. That gave us some more time to let baby pack up their bags, and enjoy our home. So, we waited some more.
A week later and we still weren't any closer. The little thing was enjoying the womb way too much. Since the original due date, we've been have weekly (if not more) appointments to check on the baby and everything is still amazing. The baby is moving around, the vitals are great, Leila's vitals are great, and besides statistics, our team had no reason to push the process along.
As we are now at the official 42 week 6 day mark, the team strongly advised moving forward with inducing even though vitals all seemed well. This is because the chances for complications and still born issues is significantly higher. With all of that in mind, we headed to a local midwife-friendly hospital to begin inducing labor this evening. We currently at the hospital in a room all by ourselves, with lovely staff to help us move forward. We're expecting to be here for a few days, and they are very open to attempting a slower process that's best for both Leila and the baby.
If anything changes I will let you know!
